CVAN East and South East: Artist Networking EventThursday 14th March / 7pm / Free (pre-booking required)

The Contemporary Visual Arts Network (formerly Turning Point Network) is a consortium of eleven co-ordinated regional groups of contemporary visual arts professionals across nine English regions. The network engages with around 2,000 individuals and several hundred organizations, large and small, commercial and public, international and local.  It represents and supports a diverse and vibrant ecology embracing a broad range of artistic and curatorial practice. The individual groups drive programmers of work that not only directly benefit their regional constituents, but also the sector as a whole through shared learning.  CVAN believe that collectively the sector is stronger than the sum of its r parts, and through networking it can be more resilient, sustainable and effective as a sector.

Video Space Artist Talk: Selene StatesThursday 7 March / 7pm  / Free

Selene States is a young American artist, educated in Germany, currently living and working in East London.  Her work examines themes of re-enactment, cultural appropriation, obsolescence and perpetual desire, revelling in the way popular images modulate individual behaviour. By re-interpreting antiquated popular imagery, States teases out the ways individuals stage themselves by embodying familiar scripts and inherited styles.

Selene States is one of five artists selected by current exhibitor Silvia Bachli to show in the March programme in MK Gallery's Video Space.
