Happy Memories of Lincoln Art School

Posted: 15 Feb 2013 03:20 AM PST

Our recent exhibition of 150 years of Lincoln Art School was certainly popular with former staff and students, judging by some of the feedback we received during last week's opening.

"Beautifully designed prospectuses - thank goodness they were kept".

"Very interesting exhibition covering the last 150 years.  Well done.  Here's to the next 150 years".

"Enjoyed the exhibition.  Nice to see my old school too!"

"Such happy times and good memories.  Good Show, well done" (former Graphic Design student 1965 - 1968)

"It's great to be back. Ace times!"

The above image shows Graphic Design students in 1967 on the main steps to Lincoln Art School when it was based at Christ Hospital Terrace, off Steep Hill.  The building is now used by students of Lincoln FE College who are studying on Art and Design National Diploma and Foundation courses.

Some of the same Graphic Design students taken in 2012 on the same steps during their first reunion since 1968.  Pictures kindly provided to us by former Graphic Design student Rick (Will) Williamson who attended 1965-1968, pictured above seated far right.

Above image shows many of the important staff who supported the academic staff at Lincoln Art School, and again, below, at the reunion on 2 Feb.  Many of them still work at the University today in different departments, or have only just retired in recent years.

Visit to Romerike Folkehøgskole Norway

Posted: 15 Feb 2013 02:30 AM PST

During a recent visit to Oslo by our International Officer Michael Bissell, pictured above second from left, who was attending the Tautdanning Student Recruitment Fair in Oslo, Michael managed to take time out to visit the Romerike Folkehøgskole.

The visit had been arranged by Norwegian student recruitment agents Across The Pond, and Michael was invited to give a 30 minute presentation on both the University of Lincoln and the School of Art and Design.  Study in the UK is becoming increasingly popular amongst Norwegian students, and in fact 3/4 of the students Michael met were all seriously considering coming to study in the UK.

If you are in Norway and would like to find out more about studying at the University of Lincoln, please contact Across the Pond  or contact us directly at international@lincoln.ac.uk
