The Other Way Works is recruiting a Freelance Producer Posted: 05 Apr 2013 03:34 AM PDT Based in Birmingham, UK, The Other Way Works creates daring and remarkable theatre that draws the audience into the very heart of the experience. Our most recent showAvon Calling, an Avon party with a twist, successfully toured audience members' living rooms around the UK in 2012. We are currently developing Bandstand, a collection of audio performances for Bandstands delivered via a smartphone App. We are looking for a Producer to work alongside the Artistic Director to fundraise, broker exciting relationships and implement the delivery of the organisation's two year strategic plan. A fixed fee of £2,000 is available for the initial period of work, which is focused on fundraising and establishing partnerships for a planned programme of work for 2013-15. The University of Wolverhampton is hosting a networking open event to showcase the facilities The Performance Hub has to offer. This event is an opportunity to network with other people working in the Creative Industries in the West Midlands and also a chance to see the impressive facilities on offer at The Performance Hub. The Performance Hub, opened in 2011, is the perfect venue to support your activities in the Creative Industries, whether you need space to rehearse, record or create, or a dynamic venue to host a business event or conference, The Performance Hub has a range of facilities available for hire to support your work. The Performance Hub is also an ideal venue to host your performances and features one of the most technically advanced small theatre spaces in the country. There are two recording studios and a number of additional live rooms – studios are equipped to the highest standard, featuring equipment provided by SSL, PMC and Apple. The studios and rehearsal rooms are connected allowing any of the rehearsal rooms to become live rooms feeding the studios, and everything is designed to the highest standards of acoustic isolation. The Performance Hub is an All Steinway School and has a suite of 17 Steinway pianos, including a Steinway 'C' Concert Grand. Then look no further… Gone in 20 Minutes (Gi20) gives eight artists or companies a development grant of £3,000 to realise their small to medium-scale idea or project. The winners will participate in mentoring sessions with Gi20's partners and will be given the opportunity to present their work in front of national audiences and arts programmers at SO Festival, Skegness (7 July) Shoreditch Festival, London (13 to 14 July) and Stockton International Riverside Festival, SIRF (3 to 4 August). Applications are welcome from all art forms including circus, dance, theatre, music and visual arts or a combination of the above. Gi20 is a national, outdoor performance programme that offers development funding, mentoring support and showcasing opportunities for emerging artists to develop small- to medium-scale outdoor arts projects. Caroline Horton’s award-winning show ‘Mess’ is now touring! Posted: 05 Apr 2013 03:23 AM PDT We are absolutely thrilled that Caroline Horton has been nominated for a 2013 Olivier Award for her show 'You're Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy'! The show was first commissioned by China Plate, Warwick Arts Centre and mac birmingham following China Plate's First Bite Festival, and has toured extensively throughout the UK and internationally. We are hugely proud of Caroline as an artist, and of her beautiful show which is more than deserving of the nomination. The show is nominated for an Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre for its run at the Bush Theatre in 2012. The ceremony will take place on Sunday 28th April. In the meantime… Caroline's show 'Mess' will be touring from next week! Her most recent, Memorial, reworks Homer's Iliad. Her first collection, The Thing in the Gap-Stone Style, won the Forward Prize for Poetry: Dart the T S Eliot Prize. When Weeds and Wild Flowers won the first Ted Hughes Award in 2010, Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy said, "Alice Oswald of all poets working today is probably the most like Hughes: Ted would have been bowled over by her collection."
