Sketch design by Studio Myerscough via Capsule websiteThere are some fantastic residency opportunities in the West Midlands at the moment which we wished to highlight:

The Lombard Method Summer Residency and Solo Exhibition - Residency and exhibition selected by Helen Legg, Director of Spike Island, Bristol. The residency runs for one month, from 25 July to 22 August 2013, and aims to provide a supportive environment in which to make new, exhibition standard work. To offer critical input during this intense period of development, Helen Legg will visit the selected artist in the studio during their residency. The residency is followed by a 3 week solo exhibition at The Lombard Method. Deadline: Sunday 21 April 2013

Capsule/Library of Birmingham - Creative Residencies - Capsule are welcoming applications for week-long Creative Residencies in the Library of Birmingham. As part of the Discovery Season Capsule and Library of Birmingham are inviting artists, creative practitioners and arts organisations to propose ideas for week-long residencies in the 'Playground of Discovery': an exciting and dynamic structure designed by Studio Myerscough to be situated in the foyer. Residencies will need to offer free drop-in activity for visitors to the Library of Birmingham around the central principle of Discovery. The structure will be able to accommodate between 10- 20 people. Deadline: Monday 29 April 2013.

AirSpace Gallery Graduate Residency 2013/14 - AirSpace invites graduating students from BA and MA Fine Art courses to apply for their graduate support scheme, which was introduced in 2012. Residents are offered a shared studio space within AirSpace for 6 months, monthly suppory meetings, a solo show at the end of the 6 month period within AirSpace and access to all studio facilities and support structures.

Adam Gruning, Graduate Residency Artist, 2012 said:

"I would definitely recommend the residency to other artists looking for opportunities after University. The residency offers the valuable debut solo show opportunity artists dream of as well as a supportive artist community that makes the transition from University to practicing artist positive, productive and enjoyable."

Deadline: Monday 3 June 2013
