This exhibition focuses on Newport Pagnell's role as a front line stronghold in the momentous Civil War of the 17th century when the nation was run as a republic for the only time in history.

The eight-week show at Discover Milton Keynes features old and rarely seen material from the time Roundheads fought Cavaliers and throws new light on Oliver Cromwell’s previously unrecognised close relationship with today’s town.

Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Hidden Histories initiative, the exhibition is the result of a two-year project by volunteers in the town and is a spin-off activity of the annual Newport Muster community event.

Located on the first floor of Central Library, Discover Milton Keynes is open Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays and Bank Holidays) and admission is free

Sunday 21st April – 2.30pm

Oliver Jeffers, award-winning author of How to Catch a Star, Lost and Found and The Way Back Home returns with a tale about a little boy in a very sticky situation!

It all begins when Floyd gets his kite stuck in a tree. He throws up his shoe to shift it, but that gets stuck, so he throws up his other shoe and that gets stuck too. Along with the cat, a ladder, a pot of paint, the kitchen sink, an orang-utan and a whale, amongst other things!

Will Floyd ever get his kite back ???

With original music and plenty of audience participation, this brand new story by Oliver Jeffers has been adapted into an exciting new production for families and young children by the team behind the shows Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, The Night Before Christmas and last year’s smash hit The Way Back Home.
