The anguish, hostility, and despair of his 'clients' has left him falsely compassionate, living out of a suitcase, and loving every second of it. When his boss hires arrogant young Natalie, she develops a method of video conferencing that will allow termination without ever leaving the office - essentially threatening the existence Ryan so cherishes. Determined to show the naive girl the error of her logic, Ryan takes her on one of his cross country firing expeditions, but as she starts to realise the disheartening realities of her profession, he begins to see the downfalls to his way of life. 'All the Memory in the World' and 'Statues Also Die' Posted: 29 Mar 2012 10:16 AM PDT Friday 20.4.2012 Friday Night Films All the Memory of the World 1956 / 16mm, b/w / 22 mins. Director: Alain Resnais Statues Also Die 1953 / 35mm, b/w / 30 mins. Directors: Chris Marker and Alain Resnais Both films selected by current exhibitor Olivia Plender Friday 20 April / 6.30pm / £5 (concessions £3) Pre-book on 01908 676 900 All the Memory of the World A lyrical documentary about the Bibliothèque Nationale made for the French Foreign Ministry, Memory reveals the behind-the-scenes activities of the library, following a book from its arrival in the vast institution to its placement on the shelf – a "prisoner" until it is checked out. Resnais investigates the idea of libraries as collective memory aids, a hedge against universal forgetting, with the books and librarians acting as agents in the "slow battle against death." Statues Also Die This collaboration between Resnais and Chris Marker begins as an examination of African statues that raises questions about their status and presentation in European museums and ultimately becomes an indictment of the history and effects of colonialism and racism. Because Resnais refused to sanction the censored version originally planned for release, the film has only recently become available.

Saturday 21 April / 1 - 3pm / Free Suitable for children aged 4+ Throughout April, we're hosting a range of special events to celebrate the launch of Cave, a new public artwork for Milton Keynes in Campbell Park. Join us this week for a storytelling session with a difference. We'll be making the animals who star in the famous story, The Lion, The Fox and The Beasts before going on a journey of discovery as we head over to the Cave in Campbell Park. Why are there footprints going into the cave but nothing coming out? Will you dare to go in to find out? A first session will leave promptly from MK Gallery's Events Space at 1pm. The session will then be repeated at 2pm.
