Busy Bunnies at Easter!

Posted: 29 Mar 2012 12:04 AM PDT

Yes it is school holidays time again, and just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse (or if you want to step inside for some shade!) the creative community in the city has some fantastic offerings to inject some culture into the lives of your children.

This Saturday from 2pm to 4pm,  New Art Exchange, have an exciting event about Camera Obscuras – suitable for all ages and perfect for your little photographer! Everyone will build a "box" camera obscura to take home using recycled materials and simple lenses.

They also have an exciting range of events over the Easter break, particularly for young people aged 11-19 including the chance to VJ to your favourite music, create colourful striking mosaic wall pieces, collage, decoupage and mirror image art, get involved in a dance workshop or participate in a fantastic creative session with artist Rashid Rana to name a few. The details on the website as well as many more great events to chose from. All of these sessions are free! Although donations are appreciated.

Nottingham Contemporary, who incidentally have been selected as one of only 20 musuems and galleries around the country for a Kids in Museums award!) never fail us for (non chocolate related) treats! These include a Random Art Trail, some urban gardening (see above pic) and abstract jigsaws to mention a few.

If you fancy some theatre to round off the Easter break, Lakeside Arts see the return of the fabulous Red Riding Hood on 14 April. This was last at the centre over Christmas. Nottingham blogger Penny Alexander, has put together a great review of the show when it was on then. It is really good to see these classic tales on the stage and this promises to be a family favourite for years to come.
