Fashion students at London's Earl's Court Posted: 11 Jun 2013 09:12 AM PDT Following the BA (Hons) Fashion Studies programme's successful show in Lincoln last month, students then travelled to London to promote their work to the Fashion industry at Graduate Fashion Week, which is held annually at London's Earl's Court. Amid enquiries and conversations with design studios, retailers and photographic studios, including legendary photographer Nick Knight's SHOWstudio, who were keen to photograph Lincoln students' work, there were talks and careers advice sessions on portfolio preparation, CV writing and the use of social media in the Fashion business. A variety of industry experts including the Karen Millen team, Henry Holland, Colin McDowell, Arts Thread and Victoria Beckham with son Romeo in tow, dispensed advice, talked about their experience, and gave students the opportunity to ask questions. First and second years who attended were really excited to see the opportunities available to them at Graduate Fashion week and the ongoing support provided to graduates. The George "Global Traveller" competition is one such opportunity which resulted in second year student, Cui Yongqi who was a finalist, exhibiting her collection of "Art Beggar" inspired menswear on the George (sponsor of Graduate Fashion Week) stand, centre stage in the exhibition hall, attracting a great deal of interest and admiration. |
