The Best of Times in Sherwood

logo for Sherwood Art Week"They'll drill holes in your 'art, Magsman, like a Cullender."
Charles Dickens, Going into Society

[Today is the 200th anniversary of Dickens' birth, but it is hard to find a direct quotation about Art - if you know of one, please tell us in the comments.]

Well, I hope that no one will be drilling into the Art, or indeed the Mansfield Road during 16 – 23 June when it is Sherwook Art Week.  This is one of the highlights of Nottingham's Art Scene, you can relive some of past years on their blog.  I can't better their description:

SAW is a week of art events and exhibitions located in and around the heart of Sherwood. We aim to celebrate the creativity of people in Sherwood and encourage a sense of community by providing opportunities to showcase local artists' work and give people a chance to make their own art.

Features of the Art Week include Art in shop windows, the Open Air Craft Fair, Open Studios, Exhibitions, Workshops & Demonstrations, Talks & Film, Music and opportunities for involvement by local children.

If you want to take part, as an exhibitor, you need to submit an Expression of Interest by Monday, 20 February. The form and all the details are on their blog.  Why not make this "the spring of hope", not the "winter of despair" [from the opening of Tale of Two Cities, but you knew that didn't you?].
