& FLUX: a series of screenings inspired by music and moving image

ABOUT BEAT
BEAT: is a collaboration between MK Gallery, MK Film Network and ICMK. It is a celebration of artist moving image and an opportunity to profile the work of artists, experimental filmmakers and animators.
Why BEAT? This year ICMK and MK Gallery have been curating a diverse programme of music and moving image events. We have also been working to develop the opportunities for filmmakers to screen new work in Milton Keynes through MK Film Network.
BEAT takes us in an exciting new direction exploring a world of non-narrative based film.

Submissions are invited in 4 categories:
experimental film, video art, personal documentary and animation inspired by the word BEAT.
4 small prizes will be awarded in each category.

A panel made up of artists, curators and filmmakers will meet to consider submissions and a programme of films selected will screened at BEAT 1 day Festival.

Deadline for Submissions: 5pm, 31st May

GUIDELINES: Submissions are invited in 4 categories: experimental film,
video art, personal documentary and animation inspired by the word BEAT.

1. Submissions must not exceed 20 minutes in length

2. All submissions need to have the full screening permissions from the distributors and/or creators.

3. Submissions need to be DVD format in the first instance. Please check that the DVD works and has no glitches. If your film is to be screened at BEAT, and we are able to accommodate the ideal format, we will request that format from you. Please state the ideal format on the form.

4. If you would like your DVD returned to you please supply a Stamped Addressed Envelope (SAE) with correct postage.

5. BEAT will supply an email receipt to let you know we have received your submission so please supply an email address.

6. BEAT will let you know via email if your film is to be selected.

7. Please do not contact the Gallery to discuss your submission. Once we have selected the films you will be contacted. Please see the key dates below.

8. Please complete the form in full and post with your DVD to the address below. Please retain a copy for you reference.

Blessed with a sincere integrity and emotional depth, her work has spanned three decades, with the release of 14 studio albums and performances on concert stages around the world. Her 1985 album The Speckless Sky was a huge critical and commercial success and the follow up albums The Walking, Bound By Beauty and When I Was A Boy cemented her status as one of the world’s foremost performance artists. EDITING Taster Workshop Introducing Final Cut Pro

Milton Keynes Film Network (MKFN) are running a taster workshop for an introduction to editing using Final Cut Pro 7. 


An introduction to non linear editing on Final Cut Pro. This workshop will give you a basic understanding of the editing process involved in Final Cut Pro. You will be given skills in order to upload footage and create an edit of a short piece of film to music. This is a hands on workshop using Apple iMacs and Final Cut Pro 7 with tutor support. All software and footage will be supplied for the workshop.
