Snowy Shed by Jodie Osborne If you are unable to make the shows personally, you can always visit our dedicated degree show website. Some of the students have also set up their own website, which can be accessed through the links on the above link. Boxer by Lauren Ward Students from BA (Hons) Contemporary Lens Media have done just that, with an excellent website under the same name as their show, Creative Exposure. Here's just a glimpse of the excellent and diverse work you can expect to see, both on their website, and at the show. Enjoy. Posted: 13 May 2013 01:54 PM PDT The past year seems to have flown past.. I can't believe its time for the Young Creative Awards again. This is its fifth year, and even bigger than previous year. The Nottingham Young Creative Awards started in 2009 to showcase the talents of young people in Nottingham. Given we are one of the youngest cities in the country, and the general negative press young people get, this event is one of the most important annual events in Nottingham. This years event, at the Nottingham Playhouse, was much bigger and more importantly attended by a large young crowd. Often official events in the city attract the usual crowds, so to see the presence of the abundance of smart talented young people at the event, shows that One Nottingham's Annual event really is reaching out toright audience. The spotlight for this years was Nottingham's Hidden Gems. This is important given that Nottingham is slowly becoming a trendy place to live, and a unique creative hub, for example Jake Bugg and Dog is Dead are international stars, and there are more stars in the making, we will shortly have our own TV channel, and Creative Quarter. This was exemplified by the overall winner of the Young Creative Awards. The young film-maker Ashley Harvey, made a stunning short film about a day in Nottingham, reminiscent of the stunning cinematography of Terrance Malick's, 'The Tree of Life'. (one of Bradd Pitt's more interesting films). Anyway, well done to all the winners and One Nottingham for putting on the event. The winners work and will shortly be on One Nottingham's website, meanwhile you can watch Ashely's film below Jagdisb Patel is part of the Creative Nottingham team, and runs a photography practice in the city, and is a director at the Nottingham Photographers' Hub. www.saffronmoon.co.uk
