Thursday 1 November, 8pm

Tickets £18.50

We are lucky to have musicians like Thea Gilmore, musicians that want more from themselves and more from music than some pre-formed, whistle-friendly cud. Gilmore is that rare creature, an actual adult with a heart and a soul, a real person tackling the issues real people deal with every day. Unlike the rest of us, she tackles those issues with an utterly beautiful voice and songs that touch on folk, jazz, rock and Americana. Bruce Springsteen buys her records, and artistes ranging from Martha Wainwright to Mike Scott seek to collaborate with her.

2013 ... Come play with us at Inter-Action MK

Posted: 10 Oct 2012 05:19 AM PDT

INTER-ACTION MK Strikes Again..........

Fancy a bit of winter warming around January time?

Yes, thought you might agree, a bit of sparkle is just what MK needs when Christmas is over and New Year sets in.  Yes, I know, it does sounds a bit mad considering that those delicious, if yet a bit annoying chocolate father Christmas’ have only just been put out on the shelves, but we all know that time stands still for no one, and that ‘Lovely’ festival we had here at Inter-Action MK in July only seemed like yesterday!

So, how are we going to warm your cockles, shimmy your smiles, and get MK feeling all warm and fuzzy?
Well, Loveliness Part 2 of course!!

As you may or may not know, we received the second bid for Loveliness but the verdict came in a bit late so we couldn’t utilise the money back in the summer.  So, we put those thinking caps on down at the Old Rectory and decided what better way  than to do it all over again?!  ‘Again?’ I hear you cry!  Well yes, if something is blooming well brilliant why not do it again!

This time we are going bigger, bolder and we want MORE of MK’s Fabulous Community groups involved.  We have only just gone and bagged ourselves a blinking well marvellous venue for the event, which of course will be inside and is under wraps till all those Christmas pressies have been opened!

There will be the usual eclectic mix of wonderment and wizardry, arts and craziness, live music and workshops and of course, YOU ..... well, we are hoping!

So why not get in touch and let us know if you think you can help us add the first sparkles of summer sun to 2013, as we party with all things ‘Lovely’.

Have talent? Are you an Artist? Performer? Charity? Local organisation?  Fancy a bit of the Action??????

Historic Lace in Contemporary Design @ Artworks MK

Posted: 01 Oct 2012 02:52 AM PDT

Historic Lace in Contemporary Design free talk by Beth Walsh
Sat 3rd November, 3pm
Lace is usually associated with the skills and fashions of the past. How then is it relevant to contemporary design? This talk will explore the use of historical lace designs in new ways and in new contexts. It looks at how traditional lace techniques and attributes are used in challenging and innovative ways, in fashion, architecture and exhibition pieces.  In a more specific textile context, the inclusion of colour as well as other media and textile techniques, together with the distortion of pattern and scale, is examined by looking at examples of Beth’s work.  Lace is not of the past – it can be an exhilarating part of the present.

Places are limited so please call to book on 01908 608 108, or see our website
