Adult Bullying and its consequences – Fact or Fiction? Posted: 23 Nov 2012 03:12 AM PST Blue Orange Arts the resident charity at the Blue Orange Theatre will deliver the project 'Adult Bullying and its consequences – Fact or Fiction?' in collaboration with LoudeemY productions and Letters to Eric Theatre Company from Wednesday 28th November – Tuesday 18th December. The three West Midlands based theatre companies have joined together to create this project in response to the often over looked subject of adult bullying and its consequences. The subject matter was discussed due to personal encounters of bullying both from members of the company and enquiries from members of the public identifying a strong need for a project of this nature. The project will consist of a series of drama based workshops in order to gather material from participants, using shared experiences and opinions to document and later present findings to a wider community. The workshops will use drama, storytelling, creative writing and many other theatre techniques in order to explore this often over looked issue. The project will also act as a springboard for sustainability of the group and further development of the work. The companies are now recruiting participants for the project who wish to share their experiences or opinions and take part in this exciting project. The workshops are free to attend. For more information or to apply contact Holly Phillips onstudio@blueorangetheatre.co.uk or call the Blue Orange Theatre on 0121 212 2643 |

Posted: 23 Nov 2012 03:04 AM PST Making More of Outdoor Arts* is a research, conversation and thinking project. It has been commissioned by Arts Council England West Midlands and led by Helga Henry (of Creative Shift), and Orit Azaz (independent artistic director and consultant). The project aims to bring together and develop the community of interest around outdoor arts in the West Midlands, as well as inform Arts Council England (ACE) support for projects and activity over the next 5 – 10 years. This community is broad and includes artists and artist groups; producers; venues; festivals; and existing and potential partners of outdoor events and performances. We have invited you because we feel that you are part of this community of interest. This is your chance to inform regional and national ACE thinking in person. Please join us for discussions, activity and a chance to meet other people who want to make more of outdoor arts in the region too. Your ideas, insights and comments will feed into our wider research and recommendations. By attending we hope to build new connections, celebrate our strengths in the region and consider the partnerships, networks, actions and support that can help us meet future challenges and ambitions. DATE: VENUE: RSVP: We will provide refreshments at this event, but not lunch (so please eat before you arrive). We look forward to welcoming you all at our event. *Outdoor Arts? ACE's national task group are using the following definition of outdoor arts; we propose to use the same: Outdoor Arts Activity is accessible, time-limited performance and installation work that happens in outdoor locations. There are specific areas of work within the overarching definition of outdoor arts, including (but in no way limited to): street arts, tented circus, carnival, celebratory and participatory arts, spectacle, community arts and art in the public realm. The work is often free to the public and can be presented as part of a programme, festival or as a stand alone event, eg Carnival and Mela. The work uniquely links its audience to the landscape that cannot happen within buildings. The quality of the work, its aesthetics, and the nature of the participatory experience reflect the relationship with the environment in which the work is presented. |
