Welcome to Theatre Exchange!

Posted: 16 Nov 2012 12:57 AM PST

Theatre Exchange is a new initiative hosted by The Old Joint Stock Theatre, Birmingham. With the Theatre world moving fast in our region, Theatre Exchange does what it says on the tin. It's a stop off point for anyone involved in Theatre in the area to meet up and exchange – and it doesn't cost anything!

Things you may want to Exchange

·       You may want to exchange ideas with those working in the industry and see what they're doing in the region…..let others know how you make Birmingham your theatrical home.

·       If you live in the Theatre cyber-world this could simply be a chance to put a face to the name. 3D Facebook!

·       If you're a writer, actor or director you may want to share your script or ideas or take part in the rehearsed readings.

So on Monday 19th November at 7.30pm we will have the first Theatre Exchange in the Club Room at the back of the bar in The Old Joint Stock. We'll begin with a chance for people to spread the word about what they're up to and we'll finish with a networking evening which sprawls into the evening. Sandwiched in the middle at 8pm will be some short scratch performances of new writing.

Speaking of which, we're looking for Actors,Writers and Directors!

From 5.30pm we will be providing space for scripts to be rehearsed prior to scratch performances as part of Theatre Exchange.  The chosen applicants will work together in those 2 hours to put on a scratch performance to show at the evening event.

If you would like to be involved….

·       Writers: We're looking for several short (maximum 10 minutes) pieces or extracts, please send scripts to theatreexchange@hotmail.co.uk

·       Actors: Send a CV and a few words about yourself to theatreexchange@hotmail.co.uk

·       Directors: Send a CV and a few words about yourself to theatreexchange@hotmail.co.uk

We would like this part of Theatre Exchange to be for everyone, and we hope members of the public will also come along (or wander over) and feedback on the scratch performances, so this is a great opportunity to get your work out there!

Looking forward to meeting you!
