New Art West Midlands: The best of the region’s emerging artists selected for exhibition in 2013

Posted: 28 Nov 2012 07:25 AM PST

The work of more than 20 recent visual arts graduates from the West Midlands' five university art schools has been selected for a multi-sited exhibition in Birmingham next year, designed to showcase quality, innovative work by the best new talent in the region.

Led by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in partnership with the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham and artist-led gallery and studios Grand Union, New Art West Midlands 2013 will provide a unique opportunity for recent graduates from the region to launch their careers through exhibiting at these galleries in the spring. The programme was open to students from Birmingham City University, Coventry University, Staffordshire University, University of Wolverhampton and University of Worcester. Four graduate artists, Rashid Khan (University of Wolverhampton), Stuart Layton (University of Worcester), Sophie Bullock (Birmingham City University) and Corey Hayman (Coventry University) were also selected to receive a bursary.

Following a call for applications in April of this year, three nationally renowned artists/curators selected the work for exhibition.
