Digital R&D Fund for the Arts

Posted: 19 Nov 2012 08:57 AM PST

We are delighted to announce that Writing West Midlands and bITjAM have been invited to complete a full application for NESTA's Digital R&D Fund For The Arts after a successful expression of interest was submitted in October 2012.

We are the region's literature development agency supporting creative writers and creative writing activity responsible for public literature activity such as the popular series Tell Me On A Sunday (with Ikon Gallery) and the Birmingham Book Festival. We also focus heavily on developing young writers both in and out of schools.

bITjAM are a team of digital artists, online engagement specialists and web developers with up to 12 years' experience working within the Public Sector, housing associations, Local Government and 3rd sector organisations.

Along with bITjAM, we are applying to develop a customer management system doubling as an engager loyalty scheme for arts organisations. The system would work with existing proven platforms of communication and be a bespoke audience development tool for smaller organisations. NESTA funding would allow both of our organisations, in collaboration with an academic research partner, to analyse existing systems and markets while developing and prototyping software, as well as joining appropriate national discussions about the project via conferences and speaking engagements.

We are now interested in hearing from suitable academic institutions with an interest in audience development. For more details on the NESTA Fund, see their website.
