| Posted: 06 Nov 2012 08:39 AM PST ![]() Bugsy Malone Grab your splurge guns and head on down to Fat Sam’s Grand Slam - the hottest speakeasy in Milton Keynes! Fat Sam is in danger of being closed down by his ‘business rival’ Dandy Dan. Enter baby-faced Bugsy Malone, a killer with the ladies and a definite asset to Fat Sam. Unfortunately, Bugsy has also caught the eye of Sam’s girlfriend Tallulah – though he’s set his designs on the showgirl Blousey Brown. In everyone’s favourite slapstick gangster musical comedy, Bugsy Malone follows the rivalry between two half-witted street gangs and the washed up, well-intentioned, one-time boxer who steps in to take control of Fat Sam's gang and give Dandy Dan and his boys what they've got coming. Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge and unlimited power, Dr Faustus makes a pact with the devil and in turn relinquishes his soul. Scene Productions takes this classic story of damnation and presents it as a deliciously dark and terrifically twisted fairytale. Using stunning puppetry, live illusion and trickery; avenging angels and dastardly demons are brought to life as three performers conjure a fantastical world of magic, mischief and the macabre. We all want what we can’t have. What would YOU sell your soul for? A cautionary tale suitable for ages 6 to 666! Tickets £12.50 Box Office 01908 324422 or online at www.stantonbury.org.uk |

| Stony Stratford Lantern Project Posted: 06 Nov 2012 03:40 AM PST ![]() It’s time to get creative and make your lantern ready for the Lantern Procession at this year’s Christmas Lights Switch-On Fun Day on Saturday 01 December. If you’ve been watching the procession for years but have never taken part then maybe this is the year for you to join in?? There will be plenty of Volunteers on hand to guide you through the lantern making process so don’t worry if you think you’re not artistic - just get stuck in! Leaflets and posters will be appearing in school book-bags and around the town inviting you to join us at the York House sessions on: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th November Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th November Sessions run from 10am-4pm and a cafe will be available throughout for snacks, drinks and light lunches. Anyone can make a lantern (although young children will need help) - this project is for the WHOLE COMMUNITY and all ages and abilities are welcome. Construct your frame from willow withies and masking tape and cover it in colourful tissue paper and PVA glue - the design is limited only by your imagination. The lanterns are lit from within with candles and make a wonderful spectacle as they are paraded through the streets of Stony Stratford ready for the switching on of the Christmas lights. Magical! The theme for this year’s project is ‘Christmas Under the Sea’ so get your thinking caps on for some amazing underwater creatures! The number of lanterns is limited to 270 - we can't fit any more into York House! We are offering you the chance to "pre-book" your lantern(s) - this doesn't guarantee you a time-slot at any particular session but it does ensure that you will be able to take part. Cost is £5.00 per lantern - please contact the York House Office on 01908 563361 for more details or print out an on-line form from our website www.york-house.org.uk |

I Grew Up in Wolverton, is a collection of words which residents, from both the past and present, typed out on the social networking site. The 280 page creation has been described as ‘social history with style’ and it is thought that Facebook might not have been used in this manner before. More than 800 people have joined the town’s Facebook group since it was set up by Faye Lloyd in 2008, and the stories posted in it come from both young and old residents. |
