Dakesis, The Commander In Chief , 27 May 2012 Posted: 20 May 2012 12:08 PM PDT 27 May 2012 - Comedy at The RoadHouse BirminghamDakesis are a five piece Progressive-Power Metal band from Birmingham, UK. Considered by some as one of the UK's fastest rising independent artists, they have come a long way since their formation in 2008. Mixing European power metal influences with home-grown heavy metal, a heavy dose of tongue–in-cheek cheese and a fair dash of contemporary Prog to create a unique blend of modern melodic metal. |
Capital Theatre Festival: Pecha Kucha , 27 May 2012 Posted: 21 Apr 2012 03:09 AM PDT 27 May 2012 - Theatre at macBrand new six and a half minute plays performed in Pecha Kucha's famous 20x20 format. Fast & furious new writing. Pecha Kucha was originally devised by Klein Dytham Architects in Japan as a format for designers and architects to share their work and inspiration in a snappy and concise way – talking about each of 20 slides for just 20 seconds per slide. The 20x20 format has become a global phenomenon, with events now regularly taking place in over 400 cities worldwide. Jointly hosted by Pecha Kucha Birmingham and Pecha Kucha Coventry alongside Capital Theatre Festival, this evening's event is a worldwide Pecha Kucha first! Eight visual artists each supplied us with a set of 20 images – we then gave each set to a regionally-based writer and asked them to write a play to fit the 20 images and the 20 seconds per image format. |
