Head of Exhibitions and Learning Manager Posted: 24 Oct 2011 04:00 AM PDT The National Centre for Craft & Design, formerly known as The Hub, is the largest venue in England entirely dedicated to the exhibition, celebration and promotion of international craft and design. Situated in a former seed warehouse in the Lincolnshire market town of Sleaford, the Centre boasts three exciting exhibition spaces; a vibrant events programme; an innovative craft and design shop; a licensed riverside café and a roof-top viewing balcony. Since opening in 2003, the Centre has developed a world class programme that presents exciting, enlightening and accessible exhibitions and learning opportunities that open up new understandings of contemporary craft and design practice. The National Centre for Craft & Design is now seeking to recruit two key positions to work in partnership with the artistic management team to drive forward the strategic development and ambitions of the exhibition and learning programmes. Candidates for both posts will already be recognised for their artistic vision and innovation in the delivery of programmes that meet the demands of quality and audience participation. They will have leadership potential and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners. In return The National Centre for Craft & Design can offer a fantastic opportunity for two individuals to make their mark in the largest purpose built craft gallery in England. Steven finds the right balance between his personal life, girlfriend, friends and his studies, and is impatient with one of his best friends, Ryan, as he wants them to try and behave like adults rather than playing video games all the time. He has matured since going to University; achieving excellent grades and is doing very well for himself. • Supporting and recurring role, with dialogue. • Comfortable with dialogue and visual humour. • The ability to drive would be beneficial, but not essential. • Good comedic timing. • A good sense of humour. Notes: As this is a student film, your involvement with this project would be deemed as voluntary, but your food, travel expenses and accommodation will be covered. Project Outline: Third Year University student film where a nerdy boy meets a nerdy girl through a means of cosplaying, Comic Con Expos and a love of all things considered 'geeky'. Taking influence from the work of Edgar Wright, Scrubs and Amelie, the project is an awkward, comical love story of young love, combining visual humour and multiple 'nerdy' references. AUDITION DATE: Friday 28th October 2011 10am - 5pm CALLBACKS:Monday 31st October 2011 10am-5pm If applicants are interested in the project, I will send a sample text from the script for the audition. Furthermore, depending on number of applicants, individual time slots can be arranged. Shooting Dates: (However each role will be slightly different in terms of shooting dates, depending on whether it is the lead roles or supporting roles.) 1 -2 days for a script read through and costume tests, between late October and early November. (dates TBC) 18th, 19th - 20th November 2011 in Birmingham (travel and accommodation arrangements will be made). 5-7 shooting days between 23rd January and 6th February 2012. He is obsessed with video games, Star Wars, Sci-Fi and all things considered "geeky", and as such, neglects both his studies and friends as part of his alternate lifestyle, whether he means to or not. • Lead Role • Comfortable with dialogue and visual humour. • Some knowledge and experience of video games in order to create the authenticity of an avid gamer would be beneficial, but not essential. • The ability to drive would be beneficial, but not essential. • Good comedic timing. • Be prepared to wear full costumes, likely to raise a laugh. • A good sense of humour. Notes: As this is a student film, your involvement with this project would be deemed as voluntary, but your food, travel expenses and accommodation will be covered. An avid cosplayer (someone who dresses up as their favourite character from the world of movies and anime) she loves attending Comic Cons, bringing her endless excitement.
