The Writers Bureau £1,000+ Poetry Competition Posted: 13 Oct 2011 03:49 AM PDT The Writers Bureau £1,000+ Poetry Competition Closing date: 31st December 2011. Prizes: First Prize is £500, second prize £300, third prize £200 and fourth prize £100. All winners will be published on the Writers Bureau website and the First Prize poem will appear in print in Freelance Market News. Entry fee: The entry fee for each poem is £5.00. Poems of up to 40 lines, on any theme accepted. The judge will be Alison Chisholm, a prolific and widely published poet. The National Poetry Competition 2011 Posted: 13 Oct 2011 03:48 AM PDT The National Poetry Competition 2011 Closing date: 31st October 2011 Prizes: First Prize: £5000; Second Prize: £2000; Third Prize: £1000 and Seven Commendations: £100. Entry fee: The first poem submitted costs £6. Subsequent entries in the same submission cost £3 per poem. Poetry Society members (including those joining now) get a free second entry, with subsequent poems at £3. Postal entries will only be accepted when accompanied by an entry form (forms may be photocopied). One entry form may cover multiple entries. All poems must have a title and must not exceed 40 lines in length (excluding title). Entries can be on any subject. Poems must be the original work of the entrant. For full details visit web site. |

2012 San Francisco International Photography Competition and Exhibition Posted: 12 Oct 2011 05:26 AM PDT Gallery Photographica's 2012 photography competition is open to amateurs and professionals. The theme is open. 40 outstanding photographs will be selected for the exhibition which will be held from March 3, 2012 to March 24, 2012 at the Michelle O'Connor Gallery in San Francisco, California. Three exhibition photographs will be selected to receive awards: 1st place: $3,000 2nd place: $2,000 3rd place: $1,000 Our juror is Jeff Curto, Professor of Photography, College of DuPage. Curto produces the History of Photography podcast series. We offer printing and framing at an affordable cost to make it easy for finalists to participate in the exhibition.
