We Are Unfinished Artists – now seeking submissions

Posted: 13 Jun 2012 05:20 AM PDT

Have you ever been plagued by an unperfected project; perhaps a jumper that amounted to nothing more than a sleeve, or a song that never made it past the first verse? Is there something you left on the back-burner and never picked up again, or an artwork you abandoned because you simply didn't know how to finish? Submit it to the Unfinished Artists project and purge yourself of any sources of nagging guilt.

We are inviting all you crafties, artists and makers to offer up your neglected creations, and join us in creating new pieces from these collected fragments.

By submitting your work you will be allowing other participants to have a hand in its completion. It may be re-imagined, distorted, unravelled or fused with other pieces.

All forms of art, craft or creation are welcome, what we are especially interested in is the story behind them.

What is the piece?

What did it mean to you when you started it?

Why was it left unfinished?

What was the future you imagined for it?

From September there will be a weekly Unfinished Artists workshop at mac where people can drop-in to share their unfinished projects & take part in the process of 'completing' the collected submissions. Details of how you can take part in the workshops will soon be announced as part of mac's autumn programme. In the meantime if you would like to submit something to the project please e-mail us:unfinishedartists@gmail.com or visit our blog for more information: unfinishedartists.wordpress.com

Vamos Theatre is looking for an inspirational Set Designer

Posted: 13 Jun 2012 05:16 AM PDT

Vamos Theatre, one of the UK's leading full mask theatre companies, is seeking an imaginative, inspiring, flexible and creative set designer for its next touring production, Finding Joy. Based in Worcester, Vamos Theatre has established its innovative, fearless and humorous performance style through extensive national touring and education programmes, and is looking to expand its reach by taking its next production to both UK and international venues. Vamos Theatre has recently been awarded two year project funding from Arts Council England Grant for Arts Programme.  Finding Joy is a funny, moving, vital and heroic tale of one family's experiences of dementia, the story of a teenage lad, Rowan, his grandmother, Joy, and their unique, quirky and inspiring relationship. The show is aimed at an intergenerational audiences from 8 – 108, and will tour to small rural touring venues as well as larger scale theatres (500+). Vamos is keen that the set design reflects its performance style, and is surprising and creative, as well as being practical for touring. You can read more about the company at www.vamostheatre.co.uk.

We would welcome your CV, images of previous work, and any ideas that you may have from our outline of Finding Joy.

Please email applications to Artistic Director rachael@vamostheatre.co.uk

 Closing date July 27nd.

Future Delivery presented by Fluxx

Posted: 13 Jun 2012 05:12 AM PDT

Fluxx is based in the midlands and has been presenting work using improvisation since 1998.  Mac wouldn't programme our show so we hired a space there and we're presenting it ourselves.  What's more – we've made it free.  'Sarah is expecting – but will the outcome be what she expected?  Test outcomes during pregnancy can cause crucial anxieties.  What's the solution – rewrite your dream of children or turn to friends and family?  In this unique show, the spectators are those friends and family.'  A show with film, debate and improvisation.  The Foyle Studio, Mac at 7pm on June 29th.  BOOKING IN ADVANCE IS ESSENTIAL via admin@fluxx.co.uk
