Belmont Row Works, Birmingham

Found this one on a drive by in the area, found out a little bit of history :

It was the Belmont Row Works a factory on Belmont Row. It was destroyed by fire and wind in early 2007.

It was a factory to build bicycles for the Victorians.

It might possibly get restored.

It was the Headquarters for the Eccles Rubber and Cycle Company, and it housed rubber manufactory. By 1918 it was occupied by the Co-Operative Society, which used the premises to make underwear. In 1931 the factory was making pianos, and by 1941 bedsteads.

Kelham Island Industrial Museum, Sheffield

Spent a really interesting day here. Some good photo opportunities. Good cafe too! The Museum is open Sunday to Thursday.

Situated on a man made island that is thought to be at least 900 years old, the museum is not far from the centre of Sheffield..

..and is in a former industrial area that has been redeveloped.

The Bessemer Converter is one of only three remaining world-wide.

The Crossley gas engine

The Bramah's Hydraulic Press, used to flatten maps!

The River Don steam engine

When the museum is open, the engine is in steam at regular times during the day.

Stumbled on this building on the internet, once I had found its location, thought it was worth a visit :-)

The building is in a bad state, wet and damp, moss coming through floors, standing water

Some old data tapes

GKN Buildings Smethwick

Posted: 08 Aug 2012 10:01 AM PDT

Having done a few days research and having heard about the tunnels, me and my mate decided it was worth a visit and we weren't disappointed, a forgotten flash gun and poor torch batteries prevented a full explore, but here are some photos and we are definitely going back :-)

A better explore of tunnels needed I think.
