Posted: 16 Aug 2012 01:55 PM PDT Next month, a first-of-its-kind event will take place in Nottingham. The World Event Young Artists (WEYA for short) is a brand new initiative that aims to showcase a selection of the most talented young artists from around the world. 1000 artists from 100 different countries are due to take part, and their work will span a wide range of art forms, from photography to performance art and everything in between. A community engagement programme running alongside the event will encourage children and young people across all communities to engage in their own creative activities, using the young artists and their work as inspiration. Here are some of the young artists whose work you can expect to see… Moseek – an electro-rock band from Italy whohave performed at several Italian music festivals. Julia Enriquez – an Argentinean poet and translator Chase Walker – a painter, photographer and digital artist from Liberia, who wants to use art to represent his home country in a positive way. Events and exhibitions are taking place at venues all over Nottingham, including Crocus Gallery, Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham Castle, The Malt Cross Gallery and Nottingham Playhouse. The UK' s young artists are well represented too, including several from around the Midlands, such as photographer Emily Moya Addis and dancer Rachel Farrer. Get involved with WEYAIf you'd like to get involved with WEYA, you can register to volunteer for the event at their website. They're looking for volunteers across several different areas, including Social Media and hospitality. They're also looking for people with specialist knowledge, so if you speak another language, or know anything about Visa requirements, why not apply? WEYA takes place from 7-16 September and is hosted by UK Young Artists. Follow them on Twitter for updates @ukyoungartists or visit http://www.ukyoungartists.co.uk/
