The Third Law , 10 May - 12 May Posted: 01 Apr 2012 04:24 AM PDT 10 May - 12 May - Theatre at AE Harris Factory BuildingThe Third Law is a dance- theatre piece exploring the physics and movements of a Newton's Cradle. Using extracts from plays by Harold Pinter, Irvin Shaw and Patrick Marber, the piece reflects societal relationships, how the balance of power continually shifts, as like a Newton's Cradle reaction follows unwanted, yet predictable reactions.
In The Groove - A Musical Showcase , 10 May Posted: 26 Apr 2012 02:39 PM PDT 10 May - Dance at Crescent TheatreAPAA is a very dynamic group with an innovative and entertaining approach to music and performance. This eclectic inner-city group was set up in the summer of 2000. The aim was to provide a creative arts program and performance opportunities for young people from the 'inner city' areas of Birmingham and to consequently connect the Arts with the Community.
Margins to Mainstream , 10 May Posted: 31 Mar 2012 03:42 AM PDT 10 May - Theatre at The DrumA ground-breaking documentary, using rediscoveries of forgotten plays from the archives and fascinating interviews with theatre heavyweights such as Kwame Kwei Armah, Patricia Cumper and Jonzi D to reveal the untold story of a dynamic art form. From Ira Aldridge playing Othello in Covent Garden in the 1830s, to Bashy playing Markus the Sadist in a "rap opera" in 2010, the richness of this story is in its diversity. It highlights the battles and triumphs of Black British Theatre on its journey from the margins to the mainstream.
