Dr Elaine Padmore

Exactly fifty years ago, in September 1962, Elaine Padmore became a Music student at the University of Birmingham. Much of her time here she spent singing in Guild operas and UMS concerts. These experiences bore fruit. Ten years after leaving she was appointed Head of Opera at the BBC, and later she became Artistic Director of the Wexford Festival and of the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen. In January 2000 she was approached to head the new artistic team at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where she remained as Director of Opera until retiring at the end of 2011. We look forward to hearing some of her experiences and maybe the secret of her success.
