An entertaining evening of new and exciting theatre is to take place at The Public on Wednesday 9 November as the Black Country venue hosts renowned 'scratch night', PILOT.

Five theatre shorts featuring new unleashed 'work in progress' from some of country's most exciting theatre makers will take to the stage for one night only. None of the work is finished, each piece lasts between 10 and 20 minutes, and together will present a glorious mix of comic, touching and extraordinary performance.

The fresh eclectic mix of untested and potentially spectacular theatre will invite visitors to learn about man's obsession with winners and dog shows, push the boundaries of humiliation, and experience the obsessive and maniacal facets of the human psyche.

The night will be lovingly presented with a cheeky yet firm hand by guest curators NewMacho and sandwiched in with a few surprises and some live music to create the perfect performance party atmosphere.

Linda Saunders, Managing Director of The Public said,

"The Pilot Scratch Night provides an excellent opportunity to see new work in the early stages of development. The informal and welcoming nature of the evening will also provide a unique chance for the audience to discuss the performances with the artists after the show."

PILOT – 'Scratch Night' takes place at The Public on Wednesday 9 November at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 (£4 concessions) and are available from 0121 533 7161.

PILOT is a regular programme of 'scratch' nights organised jointly by Sam Fox and Jess Mackinnon of Kindle Theatre, Paul Warwick of China Plate and guest curators. Guest curators NewMacho are a performance company born in Coventry have been performing in and around the West Midlands since 2009.
