Although bidding for any type of work is challenging, a few people seem to have the winning habit, repeatedly gaining work where others fail. What do they do that makes them succeed? In this workshop you'll learn the skills, habits and practices of highly successful bid-writers, particularly those who target the private sector, and start to develop a plan of how you can become more like them and win the work you want.
Creative Business Mentor David James Ross will be leading the workshop. David is an inspirational trainer, lecturer and writer, and has extensive experience running courses for creative businessesand helping them succeed in pitching and presenting.
"Thanks for the funding course in July. I have just found out that I have been successful in an Enterprise Inc application and your course definitely helped me put the application together" Chris Allwright

Winners of Ocean Outdoor Digital Billboard competition Posted: 23 Nov 2011 08:59 AM PST 2010 Creative Advertising graduate team Jan Pruijser & Rachel Clough have won the Ocean Outdoor Digital Billboard competition with their 'Back to the Hedgerow' augmented reality work for Westfield shopping centre, as pictured above. Here's Jan to tell you all about it:- "Since we graduated in 2010 we've had some great placements at Grand Union, Big Ideas Online, Albion and now we're at Grey. A little while ago one of our account handlers for Jordan's Cereals asked if we wanted to have a crack at a competition brief for Ocean Outdoor. They supply advertising space on digital billboards across the UK. Jordan's Cereal is all about the wildlife, they even set aside 10% of all their farmland to make homes for them. ''We approached the brief in a very open-minded manner and tried to create something that would communicate the message whilst focusing on being engaging and rewarding for the user". Jan and Rachel actually won First Prize, which included £150,000 in media spend on Ocean Outdoor digital billboards. But the best part…£1000 of Apple vouchers! You can see their video on the Creative Advertising blog. |
Product Design collaboration produces stunning Christmas decorations Posted: 23 Nov 2011 07:52 AM PST Lincolnshire family run company Fizzco Limited is a major stockist and e-retailer of Christmas decorations. It operates eight websites, including ChristmasTimeUK. Corporate clients include Canary Wharf, the BBC and Ralph Lauren. In January 2011, a collaboration developped between Fizzco and the University of Lincoln, known as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). Squared Rose is the first brand to be developed by Fizzco Limited and has been created in collaboration with the Product Design team at the University of Lincoln. It includes more than 30 distinct glass, ceramic and paper products which aim to combine the quality of traditional Christmas handcrafts with the style of contemporary design, some of which can be seen here. KTP supervisor and Product Design senior lecturer Stewart Bibby said: "The project is about much more than design. We've attended international trade fairs, from Harrogate to Frankfurt. We've sourced materials and located specialist manufacturers all over the UK. We've designed and built a new website. To go from an empty sketchbook to marketplace in less than a year is a real achievement. Work to refine and develop the range will continue long after this year's Christmas decorations have come down." The Squared Rose range will go on sale for the first time at the 2011 Lincoln Christmas Market, which will attract around 250,000 visitors from across the world to the cathedral city over four days from 1st December. Feedback from market-goers will be used to refine the products, which will go into full-scale production next year and will be sold through a dedicated Squared Rose website. |
