Thai student Naruporn Srisukri talks about studying at Lincoln Posted: 07 Nov 2011 08:38 AM PST I am 20 years old, studying BA (Hons) Creative Advertising Year 2. I'm originally from Bangkok, Thailand, but have lived in a multi-cultural community all my life as I went to an international school. I am picture here receiving a Faculty Champion award from Senior academic Anne Chick. I have always had a passion for creative thinking and art. I moved to Singapore to pursue my Diploma in Design and Media in Singapore for 3 years. I realised that new environments – bringing with them different people, languages, and cultures – brought me the greatest inspiration for ideas. From there, I knew that going to the UK was really the next step up for me as it is the heart of the world's creative industry. It is the place to be for someone hungry for exposure, inspiration and new challenges. I did extensive research on universities that offer this course, their students' accomplishments, and the learning environment. University of Lincoln was one of the schools that stood out as it received numerous D&AD Student Awards. While making my decision, I not only considered the level of accomplishment of the students (found online) but more importantly, the sense of community within the course. After stalking the Creative Advertising blog for about a month, I knew that this was the place for me. On my first day of university, I thought I was going to like this place; the tutors were really cool, and everyone in class was friendly and hilarious. Five weeks have passed and now I know I wasn't wrong. I not only like this place. I love it! I feel like I already grew as a creative compared to my first day here. I learn a lot from every class I walk into. Also, I couldn't have asked for a better class environment. While we work really hard cracking creative briefs, we share a lot of laughter in between the stressful moments, and that makes the whole learning experience much more enjoyable, I feel. The tutors are awesome. They are always there to help you through any problems you have. They are also more than willing to help you outside of class hours. Did I mention they're awesome? This is my first time in the UK. I flew straight from Bangkok to Lincoln not knowing what to expect. I am really thankful to have been assisted by the great administrative team at University of Lincoln and to be a part of the Creative Advertising course, surrounded and fully-supported by great tutors and friends. |

Posted: 07 Nov 2011 03:24 AM PST The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) have confirmed the journey the Olympic Flame will take prior to the Games next summer. More than 1,000 villages, towns and cities across the UK have been named as part of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay route which will mean that more than 95 per cent of the population to be within 10 miles of the Flame. The Torch Relay will also take in hundreds of landmarks and travel by different methods of transport, including horseback, tram and steam-train. Two new schemes have also been launched alongside the publication of the route. The Local Leaders initiative is encouraging people to create their own celebrations in their community for the Torch Relay and other key London 2012 moments. LOCOG have also created the Get Set for the Olympic Torch Relay education resource, available to all schools registered with Get Set, London 2012's official education programme.
