Round-up part 2 – It’s all Hatching in the week ahead

Posted: 18 Nov 2011 10:25 AM PST

Just as spectacular as the Anish Kapoor exhibition (hence the separate billing) – we have a super round up of events this weekend, supplemented by great discount offerings from our friends at Hatch.

The team at Hatch has secured special discounts for some shows – so see below for details of how to benefit. You can also visit the Hatch website for further details.

Through My Window

by YARD Theatre Group
On Saturday 19 November at 7.30pm
At New Art Exchange, Nottingham – £5/£3

NAE's very own YARD group has been working with Hatch associate Frank Abbott to produce 'Through My Window' – the latest creative event, not to be missed. Exploring new territories within the body of the building, using the mediums of video projection, singing, dance and installation as a complementary response to the current exhibition by Leo Asemota.

Visit the New Art Exchange website for further details.

Void Story

By Forced Entertainment
On Saturday 19 November at 7.30pm
At Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham – £12/£10/£7

In the very words of the Hatch team, "this is an opportunity to see the legendary Forced Entertainment who makes a rare visit to Nottingham this weekend with Void Story.

With contents worthy of an action movie, the show sends the audience on a rollercoaster ride through the decimated remains of contemporary culture. Navigating one terrible cityscape after another, mugged, shot at and bitten by insects, pursued through subterranean tunnel systems, stowed away in refrigerated transport, shacked up in haunted hotels and lost in wildernesses, backstreets and bewildering funfairs, they travel to the centre of a night so intense that there are no stars to be seen." Phew! You will need Sunday to recover!

Visit the Nottingham Contemporary website for further details.

Anything To Declare?

By The Gramophones
On Saturday 19 November at 10.30pm
At The Loft, Nottingham – £5 (includes entry to all Ladyfest events)

Four foolish flight attendents explore the trials and tribulations of going on holiday in the "geniunely witty, clever, yet delightfully silly" Anything To Declare? After an extremely sucessful run at the Edinburgh Fringe this show is now back in Nottingham as part of Ladyfest 11 and is definitely not to be missed.

Further details and more entertaining and crazy photographs of these adorable ladies, are available on The Gramophones website.

Photograph by Gill WilliamsonKapoor works on Nottingham City tour

The Arts Council Collection including works by previous Turner Prize winner Anish Kapoor, opens at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery this Saturday – a privilege not to be missed!

Kapoor has left his mark in Nottingham already – as creator of Nottingham's amazing 'Sky Mirror' – on permanent display outside Nottingham Playhouse. (If you haven't seen this remarkable masterpiece…you REALLY should!!)  It's a great stopping point on-route to the Castle, so no excuses needed for you to just stand and soak in the magic that is the 'Sky Mirror' and the wonder of the touring exhibition.

'Flashback' is the title of this new tour, and forms part of a series of tours from the Southbank Centre – the objective to promote emerging British artists.

Further details can be found on the Nottingham Castle Museum website.
