Open: £1m initiative for site-specific projects in the UK

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 08:30 AM PST

Open is a £1 million initiative by Artangel and BBC Radio 4 for new site-specific commissions across the UK. It is a call for artists working in any media to share proposals for ground-breaking projects that will transform the UK's cultural landscape.

On Tuesday 12 February Ikon Gallery will host an Open Platform for artists in the West Midlands who are interested in finding out more about Open. If you're a visual artist, filmmaker, writer, composer, theatre maker, choreographer, producer or an artist working in the digital space, this is your opportunity to hear about the opportunities Open offers, meet with Artangel's Co-Director, James Lingwood, Artangel Producer Rob Bowman and artist Roger Hiorns and start to think about what Open could mean to you.

Following an initial presentation and discussion there will be a chance to talk informally with the Artangel team.

Places are free but should be reserved by calling Ikon on 0121 248 0708.

If you are submitting work for Open, please let us know. We would like to gauge the number of artists applying from the West Midlands region.
