Posted: 21 Jan 2013 08:11 AM PST Friday 22.2.2013 Children & Families February Half Term Arts Award Sharing Session Friday 22 February / 12pm - 2pm / Free All Arts Award participants currently registered with MK Gallery are invited to come along and share their arts experiences together with Arts Awards Advisors Victoria Mayes and Tara Williamson. This is a great opportunity to look back over the art experiences you may have taken part in over the winter and discuss new ideas together. This event is pre-bookable by calling MK Gallery on 01908 676 900. This event is for Arts Awards participants only, and children do not need to be accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be provided, please advise of any dietary requirements when booking. |
February Half Term: Mini Makers Posted: 21 Jan 2013 08:04 AM PST Friday 22.2.2013 Children & Families February Half Term Cardboard City with Aaron Head Friday 22 February / 10am - 12pm / 2 - 4pm / Free Join artist Aaron Head to help create a sprawling cardboard metropolis. Participants will get the chance to build 'big and bold' by creatively re-using a variety of cardboard boxes and sculptural techniques. Over the course of the day a dizzying maze of tunnels, bridges and towers will emerge and spread across the room so bring along your camera and document the rise and fall of the city. As a culmination of the workshop participants will 'activate' their city with the clever use of lights and torches to create shadows and depth. |
Posted: 21 Jan 2013 07:57 AM PST Monday 18.2.2013 Talks & Workshops Young People Are Our Future Monday 18 February / 10.30 -12.30pm / Free Young People Are Our Future is a charity created to provide young people with everything they need to achieve all that they want. YPAOF is driven by the whole community who work together to provide young people with learning experiences which include fun, interactivity and social skills development. This session will introduce children to a unique set of life skills that will increase their personal safety, confidence, self esteem, communication skills and much more.
This FREE event is designed for young people aged between 5 - 16 years although parents or guardians are encouraged to stay and participate. All attendees will receive a certificate and the opportunity to participate in a variety of FREE activities on selected dates, including sport, music, dance, singing and drama.

Using a variety of materials such as pencils, colours and collage participants will work in large scale to trace floor and wall shadows… what shapes will you discover! |

We will discuss how the exhibition makes you feel and, using your responses as a starting point, together we will select key themes and translate them into a mask for a character. These masks will be made using collage, drawn elements and 3D pieces and can be worn in the following creative movement session, exploring the nature of your character and how it responds to the space and other characters. |

We will discuss how the exhibition pieces makes you feel and using your responses as a starting point, together we will select key themes and translate them into a mask for a character or creature. These masks will be made using collage, drawn elements and 3D pieces and can then be worn in the following creative movement session, exploring the nature of the creature you have made and how it responds to the space and other creatures around it. Families are welcome to join us in the session and you are free to take any masks made home with you at the end of the project. |
