Student Recruitment in Norway

Posted: 10 Jan 2013 08:10 AM PST

Earlier this week, Principal Lecturer and Product Design Tutor David Bramston, and Marketing and Recruitment Officer Laura McCarthy, attended the 3 day Student Recruitment Fair at a rather snowy Lillestrom, near Oslo in Norway.

The event, which combines career advice and Higher Education opportunities is open to students across Norway, and is the biggest education fair in Norway with nearly 17,000 visitors over the 3 days. Many Norwegian students are keen to study overseas and to learn new cultures, and with the UK being relatively close by, it makes British Universities a good choice for their higher education.

This was the second year that representatives from the University of Lincoln attended as partners to Across The Pond, our agents and experts in Norway. ATP are on hand to guide Norwegian students wishing to study in the UK, from their initial choice of course and university, right through to guiding them through the application process.

Students we spoke to were particularly keen on study options within Art and Design, as well as Architecture, Film and Television, Drama, and Journalism, all of which are offered within the College of Arts here at the University of Lincoln.

Pictured above is Principal Lecturer David Bramston together with Norwegian students Karoline and Rebecca, who were interested in study opportunities within Art and Design.  Many of the students we met were impressed by Lincoln's fine Cathedral which is where our students graduate, as well as the modern architecture of our main campus, right in the city centre. Some even told us that they knew Norwegian students who were already at Lincoln and who were really enjoying their time here.

If you are from Norway and you are interested in applying to the University of Lincoln as well as other British Universities, please contact Across the Pond directly.

Latest update on the new building for School of Art and Design

Returning to Uni after the Christmas break, it was incredible to see the progress that had been made to the new Art and Design building during our absence. It really is starting to take shape now.  The above image shows the fourth floor under construction, and also shows how the new building sits between the current Architecture building to the rear of the picture, and the LPAC (Lincoln Performing Arts Centre) to the front.

These images shows the corner which will house the new reception rear on the ground floor, and the new studio for BA (Hons) Interactive Design above it on the first floor.

A close up below of the third and fourth floors under construction.

The following image shows the location of the new Art and Design building, alongside the current Architecture building on the left, and the School of Engineering on the right, which until the construction of our new building, was the University's newest building on the Brayford campus.

Local building firm Lindum Construction is the contractor working on this project.
