News from Little Earthquake

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 05:39 AM PST

Dear Friends and Supporters of Little Earthquake,

The fairy lights and fir trees have been packed away for another year, and with the first flurries of snow already fallen, we're gearing up for what we hope will be a busy 2013 in which we have some exciting new experiences for you to share, in and out of theatres across the country!

Our work with Birmingham School of Acting continues throughout January, with research project workshops for the MA Acting students, and tantalising tasters from the BA Applied Performance collaborations module. At the end of the month, we'll be buzzing off to Nottingham for a Lab Week in New Perspectives Theatre Company's rehearsal space, where we will spend a few days exploring some early ideas for our very first family show. The Last Bumble is the story of one bee's search for the love of his life set against a backdrop of environmental change. There'll be waggle dancing, honey tasting, ukulele twangling and maybe even some skateboarding… And that's just in the first workshop week! We'll post some sneaky peek pictures from the rehearsal room, and keep you posted about future developments of the show!

After our Bumble week, Gareth jets off to sunny Western Australia where he'll don his brown warehouseman's jacket for Stan's Cafe's Of All The People In All The World: GMT +8 as part of the 2013 Perth Festival. No doubt he'll share some photos of his trip while he's away — and we wish Stan's Cafe all the best for the Fest!

While Gareth's away, Philip will be donning his toga, laurel crown and heart-patterned boxers once more, returning to Walsall Leather Museum with Cupid: Quivers of Passion . There will be romantic and racy readings from the likes of Jane Austen and Jackie Collins, and mashed-up love song lyrics from the likes of Kate Bush, The Bee Gees and (of course) Renee and Renato. Advance bookers can even place special requests for readings which will be dedicated to their loved ones (accompanied by a rose or two!)

Further ahead, we'll have more to tell on you some exciting new collaborations which are currently being developed and which will lead to new performances in March and beyond — but for now, keep checking in with our Events page, keep following us on Facebookand Twitter, and we'll keep you updated!
