Last call for Actors – Autumn NTI Workshops

Posted: 03 Aug 2012 02:50 AM PDT

Last call for Actors – we have just a couple of places left on the Autumn NTI Workshops starting next Tuesday evening.

The 5 writers are already on board and are keen to work with Actors, to kick start the production of new plays at the Old Joint Stock Theatre – for more details see below.

inamoment & OldJoint Stock Theatre
NTI Workshops – Autumn Cycle
Every Tuesday Evening (Starting 7th August) for 5 weeks – 6pm-10pm
NTI Showcase Night Tues 11th September – 7.30pm
Chekhov meets Meisner
In these Workshops we will explore the use of sub-text in Chekhov
and how using Meisner helps Actors fire the lines of a play.
From this we will create a play for and about Birmingham . . .

The NTI (New Theatre Initiative) Scheme is a new series of workshops for actors, writers and directors run by Frank Bramwell of inamoment, in association with the Old Joint Stock Theatre, aimed at stimulating the creation of new theatre in Birmingham. Each five-session run of workshops, a mix of study and collaboration, will culminate in a showcase night of full performances of the newly created works at the OJST, and from the best of these Workshop performances it is hoped full-scale production runs will emerge.

In each Workshop there will be opportunities for everyone to learn new ways of approaching their particular Theatre craft, and to then use those skills to jointly create direct Theatre. Whether people are relatively inexperienced or not, the team ethos of these Workshops encourages everyone to participate to the best of their ability.

The attractive package of support the OJST are offering all work which comes through the NTI scheme (including discounted Theatre rental rates) means that at last a full creation cycle for new plays will be an on-going and real opportunity for all Actors, Writers, Directors, and Theatre Creatives in the region.

Frank Bramwell: "The idea for the NTI Workshops came out of a chat with Tim Hodgson of Old Joint Stock Theatre, we have both felt for many years that Birmingham has lacked a way of stimulating the creation of Theatre that results directly in actual performances, and that bringing together Writers, Actors and Directors is where it all starts. We are greatly encouraged by the first round of NTI Workshops, already plans are now being made to stage a new NTI work in the New Year."
£12 for each Workshop / £50 for all 5 Workshops.
If you would like to take part, please email inamoment@hotmail.co.uk including
a CV of your Theatre / Writing Experience, and a few words about why you would like to take part.
Places are strictly limited to 10 Actors and 5 Writers.

Feedback from people who have been on previous NTI Workshops
CM Just to say a big thank you for a great four weeks it's been quite a journey!! I've learnt so much from you. You've truly inspired me to do some more writing, thanks for reigniting this flame. Please let me know when you are running workshops again as I would love to work with you again. Loved the whole organic process.
PA The format of the workshops has been different to anything I have done before but a really positive experience. Thank you!
SC I think the performance went really well and I just want to thank you for an excellent experience. It was both educational and enjoyable!
