Abbeydale Industrial Village, Sheffield Posted: 01 Aug 2012 12:38 PM PDT Had a quick visit today, as I was passing through. Interesting place, a bit run down at present, but apparently they've just had a large amount of funding and plan to carry out some improvements. Entry is free at present and it's well worth a visit. I only took a couple of photos today, but it's definitely worth another visit to get more images. ![]() ![]() The tilt-forge with, on the left the water-powered tilt hammers and on the right, a 2-cylinder blowing machine, again water-powered, which provided the draught necessary to raise the forges to the required temperature. ![]() A horizontal steam engine, currently out of use owing to the boiler needing repair. |
