Friday 15 March sees the opening night of a new exhibition to open at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln.  150 years: Past and Present is part of the ongoing celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Lincoln School of Art.

Leading on from the opening event on 2 February, which celebrated the history of the School, 150 years: Past and Present will feature artworks from notable Victorian alumni such as Warrener, Logsdail, Elwell, Hall, and Carline, all of whom are detailed in our Wikipedia entry, as well as work from former Principals of the College such as Edward R Taylor,  Alfred G Webster, Austin Garland, James M Salmon, Kenneth Gribble, and Joe Smedley.  Frank Bramley, picture above, studied at the Lincoln School of Art 1873 - 1878 before going on to form the Newlyn School of Art.

There will also be examples of work from more recent Alumni, Principals and Heads of Department such as Pete Moss and Roger Corcoran.  Work from Tony Bartl, one of the college's highly regarded tutors will also be showcased;  Lincoln art lovers may remember his retrospective exhibition a few years ago at the Sam Scorer Gallery, which is currently hosting a retrospective of Gill Nadin, who taught life drawing at the Art School during the 1960's and 70's.

The exhibition at the Usher Gallery opens to the public on Saturday 16 March and will remain open throughout the summer.  For further details contact the Usher Gallery on 01522 550990.
