Since the launch of the Creative Quarter (CQ) at the end of September, there have been a number of followup meetings and things are starting to stir.

New College Nottingham (NCN) held a "two-day extravaganza of art, design, music and innovation in and around its city centre campus" during the first week of December. As their press release said:

Celebrations began with NCN's Creative Careers Conference at Broadway Cinema with a series of talks given by creative experts including local graffiti artist, Dilk; textile designer, Alison Willoughby; and scriptwriter, John Murphy. Professional dancer, Richard Winsor – star of the Streetdance 3D movie and the Swan in Matthew Bourne's renowned ballet Swan Lake – led a contemporary dance workshop

NCN was also the site of a visit by the European Commission vice president Antonio Tajani who seemed pleased and impressed by the Creative Quarter initiative:

I am here because I totally agree with your strategy in favour of new industry, SMEs, young entrepreneurs and also for jobs… I proposed to Nottingham City Council to be the pilot project and to present your model in Brussels before the summer as the model for the third industrial revolution – after the carbon, after the oil, Nottingham.

Also in early December, Antenna hosted the visit of another politician, Nick Clegg, who was similarly full of praise. Some video clips from this visit are on the Post website.

Biocity, with 10 years of incubation of life science businesses, is another key player in the Creative Quarter. There is a good interview with Toby Reid, their director and member of the Creative Quarter Board, in LeftLion recently.

Finally, there is an evolving CQ group, meeting from time to time, in the Lace Market, led by "Ambassador for Creativity in Nottingham's Creative Quarter", Rikki Marr (@RikkiMarr). Anyone is welcome at their meetings, have a look at their twitter stream, @CQNotts, or their Facebook page for dates, times, and places. You don't have to join Facebook to read their page. [Note that the meeting on Friday, 21 December has been cancelled.]
