MAT/SISTER TREE – WORKSHOP FOR ACTOR-DANCERS, 6 October

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 04:00 AM PDT

We are working with the Cindy Claes, to develop a short experimental piece, based on 'School for Wives' by Moliere – using 'Dancehall' movement and music!

Cindy Claes is a writer/director/choreographer, who tells stories through dance. She has led dance-theatre projects with artists in Jamaica, and is also a Dancehall lover.

We are holding a one-day workshop on Saturday 6 October at Blue Orange Theatre (10am – 5pm) , to try out some ideas for the project. Come along and find out more!

(Ability to speak patois may be an advantage, but not essential!)

The event is free. Contact us for more details, and to book your place.

You may or may not be required for the whole day. Following the morning session, we will choose some people to work with us more intensively in the afternoon.

We are planning some more workshops with Cindy, later in the month, to develop the project even further  – with a possible 'Open Evening' on 15 November at the Drum, to share 'work in progress.'

Casting Call: Old Joint Stock Theatre

Posted: 28 Sep 2012 03:56 AM PDT

CASTING CALL

Friday 5th October at The Old Joint Stock Theatre

Here at the OJST we are currently casting for our one woman Christmas play, The 12 Dates of Christmas, which will run from 5th-9th, 11th-15th December, directed by Richard Poynton.

About the Play

What happens when Mary sees her fiancé making out with his co-worker on national TV at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? She dumps him and drops her engagement ring into a Salvation Army kettle. She then spends the next year being set up, hooked up, strung up, and fed up as she navigates her life "alone" as a New York actor in her thirties—Sex and the City for real people, with no Mr. Big in sight. A delicious one-woman show about how much the holidays suck after your heart's been crushed.

(For more info: www.the12datesofchristmas.com/about)

We are casting the role of Mary; the actress must have a playing age of between 28-35, be very versatile and perform with convincing accents such as New York and Southern American. Rehearsals will be weekends and evenings to be arranged. The actor will be paid a percentage from the box office takings.

If interested, please send a recent head shot and a short CV to twelvedatesofchristmas@gmail.com.
