Film & TV Teaching position at the Pauline Quirke Academy

Posted: 20 Sep 2012 02:14 AM PDT

The Pauline Quirke Academy are unique in dedicating an hour each week to our Film & Television module, which looks at how storytelling and acting techniques are different in this medium. We encourage our students to explore more realistic emotions and performance styles, becoming more 'in touch' with truth and less concerned with an overt expression of theatricality. The result is a more rounded, interesting and ultimately better performer. Our students learn by actually making film projects - from silent movies and pop videos to short films, documentaries and 'mini-features.' Our students get to experience different roles on each project, perhaps acting in one and then doing camera work on the next, whilst directing the third. Film projects get shown each year in your local cinema at our hugely exciting 'red carpet' premiere events.

The Milton Keynes academy is looking for a dynamic, friendly, enthusiastic and creative individual to teach students aged from 6 - 18 in the art of filming both behind and in front of the camera on Saturday mornings from 10am until 1pm.

Please contact Martin & Di on 07944 735161 or martin@pqacademy.com for more details and to arrange a visit and a chat about the position.

We are holding interviews on Saturday 6th October 2012 at the academy.

Please confirm that this is possible.

Many thanks.

Regards,

Martin & Di

Raising The-Awen tonight at the Labour Club, Northampton. Third Wednesday of every month. Another mystical and magical detour into the depths of musical mayhem and poetical heresy. Wonderful!

Making the First Mark: Big Draw MK Launch

Sunday 30 September 2012 / FreeA wide variety of drawing events will take place across Milton Keynes this October coinciding with the nationwide Big Draw 2012 and designed to encourage the inexperienced to try their hand at mark-making and the experienced to show off their creative skills, Participating venues include MK Gallery, Artworks-MK, thecentre:mk, Campbell Park, Inter-Action MK and The Open University.

The Big Draw MK programme of events has been co-ordinated by MK's The Drawing Machine and is presented in association with MK Gallery, where it will be launched at Making the First Mark on Sunday 30 September from 2pm – 5pm, and officially declared open by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Catriona Morris, at 2.30pm.  Open to all abilities and ages, Making the First Mark activities have been inspired by this year's national Big Draw theme "In Line". Visitors will be asked Where will you Draw the Line?  and options will include the wall, the floor and a drawing board.  People will be invited to find lines in the environment and draw them into the urban landscape with a variety of materials, including tape and chalk. Milton Keynes'  'greatest artist' Neville Modley (aka Steve Groom) will also be on hand to offer a Drawing Masterclass, and in the spirit of the recent Olympics, participants will be invited to get involved in a Strike a Pose time trial, where they have to hold a modelling pose as long as possible, while someone else sketches them.  The Drawing Machine will also be using the occasion to launch their City of Trees Project, inviting people to draw on postcards and contribute to a collective twork that will build during the course of October with a final presentation in the form of a tree in Middleton Hall, thecentremk on 31st October.

The Drawing Machine, established in November 2011, is a new arts project focussing on promoting and engaging people in drawing and bringing together different organisations to partner events.

Full listings of Big Draw MK events will be available on The Drawing Machine's website at www.thedrawingmachine.co.uk..
