Links round up: Culture Cloud, Pride and more…

It's hot so I'll keep this short. For those of you who are better than handling heat than I am, then this weekend offers a range of activities in our fair city – some of them are indoors so keep your fingers crossed for aircon.

First up! New Art Exchange's Culture Cloud exhibition opens this weekend. What's Culture Cloud, I hear you say? Well, it's an exciting new art competition, which bridges the digital and physical art spaces to showcase and discover new art talent from across the UK. The competition took place over 3 stages. In the first stage, a team of curators from the  New Art Exchange and its partner galleries, had the difficult task of narrowing down over 900 submissions to the 101 works which were then voted for by you - yes you – to get to the top 40. Now they need your votes again to pick the winners! The exhibition runs until 25th August so get down there and cast your vote.

Next. It's Nottinghamshire Pride this weekend – the festival will run on the Forest ground on Saturday and Sunday and entry is a bargain £1 for both days. There's a variety of entertainment on offer, including someone from the X Factor (don't ask me who  – sorry) and, more exciting, a Lady Gaga tribute act! Though I don't really fancy that meaty dress in this heat.

And finally, if you fancy heading out of the city for a while, then I recommend spending Sunday afternoon at Rufford where the Art Through Textiles collective will be displaying their new stuff in an exhibition called Elements. It all kicks off at 2pm.

That's it! Any offers for fanning me while feeding me ice cream gratefully accepted.
