Film & TV Scripts

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 03:20 AM PDT

A note from Jenny Stephens:

I've just started as the Artistic Director at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and we're looking for various scripts for our TV and Film training. I'm sorry that it's unpaid but you'll obviously get copies of any films or scenes that are made. We're looking for:

Film 1: 20-30 min. with a cast of 2 men and 3 women.

Film 2: 20-30min. with a cast of 5 men and 2 women.

For both films the parts need to be fairly equitable as each actor needs to have a roughly similar amount of screen time.

The films need to be able to be made in Bristol (they don't have to be specifically set in Bristol but we need to be able to find locations fairly easily here). Also, because of design logistics, we can't do period drama.

We would need you to come along for a day or two during production and there would be travel and an attendance allowance for this.

Film 1 preps in the week of 8th October and shoots the week of 15th October.

Film 2 preps the week of 21st Jan 2013 and shoots the week of 28th Jan.

We're also looking for various two or three hander scenes of about 3 mins duration that would be easy to shoot in living rooms or offices etc. Mainly for 2 characters but scenes for 3 characters would also work. The actors are in their early 20s to early 30s. Old scenes from 'Doctors' or other TV dramas would be good, or any things that you'd like to see made….

The films and scenes are used for training and showcasing the students.

If you have any suitable scripts (or want to have a go at writing one) then let me know. (You can always run an idea past me to see if it's suitable).

We need to have scripts for consideration for Film 1 and scenes by 10th September and for Film 2 by 30thNovember. We'd then make a decision on which scripts we're going with within about two weeks.

Email submissions (or any questions) to me at jenny.stephens@oldvic.ac.uk.

West Horizons Co. presents the world premiere of Queue

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 03:06 AM PDT

Queue – we all have to do it. Join this one to discover how order can lead to disorder in a supposedly rational system… segments or juice? Seat yourself in the sub-wait as we explore this strange yet common occurrence. Dynamic new play. Cast includes BA Acting graduates.

Written by Collene Louisa Webb, Queue is a mixture of drama and comedy/satire, with the general feel of absurd theatre. Collene has taken inspiration from personal experiences, news articles and Pinter's style. In one moment, Queue is quite ridiculous, but in the next it is true to life and explores our convention of queuing on a deeper level.

Queuing situations from the traffic jam to the telephone to the 'truly remarkable' handkerchief at the museum which everyone wants to see, and many more. The playwright contemplates the themes of time versus money, loneliness in a crowd and how society's obsession with politeness can compromise fairness. Queue is an intimate three-hander where the actors perform five diverse characters each. There is also a voice-over actor and some original music composed by the playwright.

West Horizons Co. is a group of emerging theatre and music professionals, newly formed by Collene Webb and Rebecca Hulse, who have recently graduated with BA (Hons) Acting. Performing alongside them is actor Robert Lehmann who is currently training at CSSD, as well as voice-overs by Elaine Hickman. The designers/technicians will be Liam Kelly and Vickie Bull, who are BA (Hons) Theatre Design & Production graduates.

Join the Queue and West Horizons Co. at International 2, Sweet Grassmarket, previews from 2nd to 4th and performance run from 6th to 17th August.
