Creative Minds, Makers and Movers- an invitation.
2.30-5.30pm Open Space Event an opportunity to explore, debate and discuss with practitioners, promoters, programmers and producers how best to attract and nurture artistic talent. Are we doing the best we can to make Gloucestershire a great place for artists to work, collaborate and be innovative in their creative practice? (For more information about Open Space format for meetings please see below)
5.30-6.30pm Launch Party. Drinks, food and an opportunity to hear more about Create Gloucestershire and our plans for 2011-13 with a welcome from Phil Gibby, Regional Director, Arts Council South West.
6.30-9pm. Try Something New Night. The afternoon of debate, discussion and provocation melts into an otherworldly evening with the chance to see work in the early stages of development- Sleepdogs takes us to the far reaches of space and asks what life means to us in Astronaut, Davy & Kristin McGuire's Icebook transports us into a tiny theatre of paper and light and a story about what is just beyond our reach, Dan Canham evokes memories and places that are left behind in 30 Cecil Street, and Cross Collaborations' installation offers a moment to reflect on your own future through Post Present Future.
NB: Some shows for the Try Something New Night have limited audiences so slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis on the day.
About Open Spaces:
Although Open Space may be new to you, it has been used all over the world to deal with a range of issues with positive results. It is an interactive and inclusive way of structuring a meeting that allows you, the participant, to set the agenda. You will not be talked at or asked to talk about things you don't want to. And by the end of the event the following will have occurred:
• Every issue of concern to anyone will have been raised, if they took responsibility for doing that.
• All issues will have been discussed fully.
• A full record of issues and discussions will be published online in a format where people can carry on the discussion even after the event.
• And YOU will have taken part in making it happen.

An evening of clips, and chat, from Britain's most esteemed film reviewer. Icon of the small screen Barry Norman shows some of his most cherished movie clips, talking about his favourite icons of the silver screen, most of whom he has interviewed. Having been the presenter of the BBC's cinema review for 26 years, Barry Norman is a much loved and recognised household name. This is a unique opportunity for theatre-going film-lovers to meet the man who has so many great stories to tell of his most loved films.
Barry Norman began his journalistic career on the Kensington News and was Show Business Editor of the Daily Mail until 1971. He has contributed over the years to The Guardian as occasional leader writer and Wednesday columnist, to The Observer as sports writer, to The Times as television critic and also as scriptwriter on Flook on the Daily Mail.
In 1972 he began his celebrated film series for the BBC, which established him as Britain's most respected film critic. During 1976 and 1977 he was also a regular contributor to the Tonight programme. The run of film programmes was briefly interrupted in 1982 when he spent a season presenting the arts programme Omnibus. He returned to his more familiar FILM '83 chair the following year.
Barry Norman has written and presented four acclaimed series on The Hollywood Greats in 1977, 1978, 1979 AND 1983, and a series on The British Greats in 1980. He has also presented a wide range of documentaries for the BBC and ITV. Best-selling books on the Hollywood greats, film greats and movie greats backed up each television series. In 1989 his ten part BBC series Talking Pictures and its accompanying book covered the history of cinema from the advent of sound.
