Writing for Performance covers all aspects of writing for actors, radio, theatre, television and screen. We will explore how dialogue and conflict drive writing for performance.
The course is designed for anyone who wants to put words into the mouths of characters.
Outline of the Day
9.45 – 10.15 Arrival and meeting other participants
10.15 – 10.45 Who is Sylvia?
10.45 – 11.15 Exercise: Subtext: unspoken dialogue
11.15 – 11.30 Coffee
11.30 – 12.30 Exercise: Writing for Radio
12.30 – 1.15 Exercise: Writing for the stage
1.15 – 2.15 Lunch
2.15 – 3.30 Exercise: Writing for television and film
3.30 – 4.15 Sharing and questions
4.15 – 5.00 Tea, cake and working with actors.
Louise Page has won The George Devine Award, The Critics’ Circle Award, The Mental Health Media Award and International Short Play Award for her stage and radio writing. She wrote the screenplay ‘Charlotte and Enid’ for Danny Boyle. Her television work includes Doctors, Bad Girls and Broken Lives.
