Electric Guitar Ensemble Workshop @ MKGallery

Peter J Taylor with the support of MKGallery are running a series of Free Bi-weekly Guitar workshops open to any musician from beginner to advanced. The workshop is designed to get players working together to create sounds not usually associated or familiar with the Guitar. Using custom tunnings, extended techniques and a Scratch Orchestra mentality. The aim is for musicians to take part in a unique experience not often explored and to work similair to how a cl
assical ensemble or orchestra would function.

Each week we shall be discussing different subject matters and examples relating to the music and compositional process’ taken to produce a new piece of work before taking part in a workshop performance. The accumilation of this project would hope to produce a cohesive ensemble cast to take part in a group performance of new works at the end of the workshop series.

This workshop is FREE and open to any amount of musicians, People wanting to take part will have to supply their own Guitar and Amp of sufficiant volume. You will not have to be able to read staff notation to attend the workshop but a tuner is essential.

If you would like more details please contact either the facebook group page or mail; acompanythatmakeseverything@hotmail.com

Week 1 - Tunings and Overtones.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 7TH - 2.00PM - 5.00PM

Week 2 - Extended Techniques.

Historic Lace in Contemporary Design talk by Beth Walsh
Sat 3rd November, 3pm
Lace is usually associated with the skills and fashions of the past. How then is it relevant to contemporary design? This talk will explore the use of historical lace designs in new ways and in new contexts. It looks at how traditional lace techniques and attributes are used in challenging and innovative ways, in fashion, architecture and exhibition pieces. In a more specific textile context, the inclusion of colour as well as other media and textile techniques, together with the distortion of pattern and scale, is examined by looking at examples of Beth’s work. Lace is not of the past – it can be an exhilarating part of the present.
