 Directed by Ron Aldridge

A crooked bookie and his two accomplices devise a cunning plan to get rich quick; kidnap the odds-on favourite and replace it with their own decrepit nag. But honest Alf, Flash Harry and Fred find more hurdles than they bargained for on their way to the final post – a comatose horse, a blossoming love affair and a bewildered French jockey all see chaos reign under the roof of the eccentric Colonel Wagstaff and his wife.

Listed in the National Theatre’s top 100 plays, this vintage 50s comedy ran for more than three years in the west end. Written by John Chapman, author of over 200 TV comedies including the Emmy Award-winning Fresh Fields, Happy Ever After and The Liver Birds, this hilarious farce is one of the finest examples of the genre.

Secret doors, split-second timing, flawless physical comedy and all-star cast including Liza Goddard, Gareth Hale & Norman Pace and Neil Stacey, make Dry Rot a sure bet for an explosive night that will have you roaring with laughter.

Scribal Gathering Music and Poetry Open Mic

Posted: 03 Sep 2012 05:29 PM PDT

Scribal Gathering is getting new shoes and a haircut, looking everywhere for its pencil case, and promising to try harder this year as it starts a new term of music and poetry at the school of open mic.

Performance slots are available to anyone who has learned their times tables or is hard enough; there will be special guest headline performances and a lunch-money / cigarette racket from Kevin Sullivan and the SAKS duo and antipodean exchange student Liz Breslin. We welcome musicians, poets and performers of any style, genre or level of experience to share their creativity, show off their talent, pass notes around or just try and fit in and get through the whole ordeal without being noticed. So get your tie and blazer on, tuck yourself in and get embroiled in a footwear-based elitist social hierarchy system. We're jumping on the Scribal Gathering Back To School Bandwagon. Join us...

...or you'll have to do it next time in your pants and vest.

Where: The Crown, Market Square, Stony Stratford MK11 1BE

When: Tuesday 11th September 2012. Doors are opened by the caretaker at 7.30. Bell goes at 8.00

How: Sign up for open mic on the night. Sign up for the football team if you're popular but a bit thick

Why: Don't know, Sir

If he told you to go and jump in the lake, would you do that: No, Sir

What was that: I said No, Sir

Etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseam
