Outside In is a national project which aims to provide a platform for artists who find it difficult to access the art world either because of mental health issues, disability, health, social circumstance or because their work does not conform to what is normally considered as art.

Artists are invited to submit works via the Outside In website for entry into the open art competition.

Having submitted the work, it will be considered for possible inclusion in the Outside In: National exhibition at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester opening in October 2012, and considered for the Outside In: Central exhibition at Compton Verney in 2013.

Since moving to Birmingham in the 1980s, the Barbadian poet, playwright, director and editor Don Kinch has established himself as one of the leading innovators in the city's theatre scene. His new play, premiered at The Drum, is a moving tale set in Lozells and Jamaica in which Marisol, a mixed heritage woman born in England, gives up her well-paid corporate executive job to have a child with a Caribbean man.

After the sell-out success of her two London seasons the legendary Sylvie Guillem returns, joined onstage by Russell Maliphant for the very first time at Birmingham Hippodrome.

Sylvie Guillem is widely regarded as the most 'brilliant ballerina of her generation' THE GUARDIAN

Russell Maliphant has developed a unique approach to choreography, encompassing his vast experience of ballet and contemporary dance as well as capoeira, t'ai chi and yoga, to create a language which is elegant, articulate and resonant.

This mixed programme features Push - a duet combining the abilities of this extraordinary partnership set to an original score by Andy Cowton, and a Solo, performed by Guillem to the music of Carlos Montoya. The evening is completed by Shift, Maliphant's signature solo and the powerful, driving solo, Two, performed by Guillem.

The Asian Music Circuit (AMC) in partnership with Birmingham Town Hall is proud to present the brilliant Roop Kumar Rathod, one of Bollywood's most accomplished artistes. He was the voice of Shahrukh Khan in the hit film Veer Zaara – Tere Liye and other hits include Maula Mere Maula from the film Anwar and the award-winning Sandese Aate Hain.
 Apart from performing his hits, Roop Kumar will be accompanied by his wife the charming Sunali Rathod.

Everybodys Reading is a Leicester based celebration of reading starting September 29th for 10 days.

The festival is organised in partnership with the National Union for Teachers, Leicester Libraries, WORD!, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and the School Development and Support Agency with the support of Arts Council England.

A small grant is available for Leicester City based reading events. Up to £200 for workshops, events, lectures, storytelling….anything that supports reading!
